The Ultimate Solutions to our Nation's Greatest Challenges

Helping Our Seniors

Our vision for America is a land where--when we get old--we will be able to retire and enjoy our grandchildren during our final years. Our vision for America is that our final years will be ones of happiness and joy, relatively undisturbed by the sporadic volatility of Wall Street. Our vision for America is a land where planning for retirement is simple, where there are no hidden penalties designed to ensnare us.

“Many of the hardships our parents and grandparents now face were caused by mismanagement, waste, and corruption in our government.”

Over the past decade, seniors have seen their taxes increase, the cost of living rise, and their retirement savings dwindle. Many of the hardships our parents and grandparents now face were caused by mismanagement, waste, and corruption in our government.

“We can help our parents & grandparents reclaim their financial freedom by reducing income taxes for senior citizens.”

One of the most immediate ways we can help our parents and grandparents reclaim their financial freedom is to reduce income taxes for senior citizens. Moreover, it is something we can realistically afford by eliminating waste and corruption in our government--without cutting critical services for our seniors.

“We need to ensure our senior citizens have access to the critical services they need.”

This also sets the stage for a long-term goal: eliminating the federal income tax for seniors. Many of the current restrictions and penalties for retirement plans are due to our current tax system. By eliminating the income tax for seniors, we also eliminate the complexity surrounding the 401(k), the Traditional and Roth IRAs, pensions, and most other forms of retirement income. You'll have more freedom in making the investments you want since you won't need to deal with the maze of current regulations.

“Many of the bureaucracy’s rules penalize senior citizens who try to be self-sufficient.”

Another series of measures I want to introduce will correct the loopholes and inconsistencies of our existing laws. Many of the bureaucracy’s rules penalize senior citizens who try to be self-sufficient, and I want to eliminate all the occasions of this which I find. If you or a loved one have personally encountered one of these cases, please post it on Facebook (or email me) so I can add it to my to-do list!

“Together, we can find and fix these laws.”

Regarding Social Security: much of the reason Social Security is headed toward insolvency is because Washington won't update the contribution formulas. Life expectancy is going up each year--and that's a good thing. It means we'll live longer as retirees. It also means we'll need more money. The best solution is to have the contribution formulas adjusted automatically as life expectancy increases--eliminating the politics entirely.

Regarding privatizing Social Security--I want what's in the best interest of the people of America. Social Security was established to eliminate dire poverty among the elderly and ensure that they would always have something. It was designed to be something stable--something people could count on even if they suffered setbacks earlier in life. Can privatization provide this? Will it be there for us until the end of our lives or will it stop abruptly and leave us penniless? Will it destroy our life savings in a flash if the market has a downturn? What happens if the investment firm goes broke? I like the idea of a better return on investment, but we need straight answers from privatization's advocates first.

Also, I encourage you to look at the other good ideas that the other candidates are offering: Corruption Slayer allows us to achieve all these good ideas!
